Styles of Blinds We Have Created For Our Clients
Our blinds are made to measure, and handmade in our workroom, with traditional string or metal pully system to our exacting standards. We can help advise on the type of blind to suit your room.
We make roman blinds with either traditional string, toggle and cleats or with the metal track runners and chain, benefits of string, or what I call the old Oxfordshire cottage look, is if the sting eventually goes or snaps, we can easily restring it, and rehang it for you, but if the metal runner and chain go, then that’s a new roman blind kit, also I like to set the roman blinds up high, if there is enough space above the window to the ceiling line, so you don’t loose the proportions of the window, and with our Northern light, we need to get as much light into the rooms as possible.
Whereas with curtains you can pull them back away from the window so you are keeping the window proportions and allowing in maximum amount of light, Roman blinds work well for activity areas of a house, as a nice clean look for kitchens and bathrooms, but if you fill your house with them it can feel like a bit like a made for rental , or stop gap look and not very personal, also must be the most basic window treatment out there, a standard development look, people don’t realise though making a roman blind can cost the same as a proper pair of curtains, but you are just saving on the fabric you use eadings, cartridges and goblets.

London Georgian Coaching Inn, Sash Window Blind
Can be very fancy, we make them just quite tailored, designed originally as a Georgian way to dress sash windows, and can be dressed in uniform folds or scrunched up, I love them scrunched up, my favourite blind overall, as its very simple when down and gathered up its got more interest than a uniform roman blind, and feels like the folds of a pair of curtains, but best if you can set them up high, and dress then down, to not lose the window shape, or light, also it depends on the fabric and how it will react, a nice damask silk or shot silk, as in photos above works really well, and will fold amazingly, but a heavy upholstery weight, or even a thinner linen, will look dumpy and quite cumbersome, and heavy.

I made this one for a client’s daughter’s Bedroom-en-suite, with little pretty bows, a traditional look that is still needed for more historic settings and, I do think they look fabulous for a little girls romantic princesses bedroom, so I’ve included it here, as an option.
